Spence Palermo is a Singer, Songwriter and Storyteller whose musical roots in Oregon reach back to 1973 and the mid-Willamette Valley's favorite "One Hit Wonder Band”, Blackhawk County. The band’s regional hit single, "Oregon I Can't Go Home" stayed at # 1 on Portland AM radio for six weeks during the summer of 1974 and reached #16 on the national Billboard charts. Palermo’s passion for Americana and Roots music simmered on the back burner while earning degrees in Film Production and Romance Languages from the University of Oregon and pursuing a successful 35+ year career as an international documentary filmmaker.
Since 2010 Palermo has been enjoying playing as a solo performer, mixing an eclectic blend of Americana, Blues, Roots, Rockabilly, Country and unplugged rock and soul classics cover tunes with a deep well of original material that draws on the same genres. Palermo’s songwriting is inspired by the people and places of the American West as well as international adventures in 30 countries.
Palermo’s passion for the music, the stories and the people who enjoy them is evident as he continues to entertain audiences in cafes, coffee houses, pubs, wineries and festivals across Oregon and beyond.
